Website Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Inklay GmbH processes personal data when you visit inklay.app (the “Website”) or contact us through the email links provided on it.
This policy applies only to the public Website. It does not cover the Inklay app, Inklay accounts, connected Inklay devices and cloud services, or purchases made through our Shopify store. The privacy information presented with those services applies to them.
1. Controller and Contact Details
The controller responsible for processing personal data under this policy is:
Inklay GmbH
Steinackerstrasse 1
5210 Windisch
Switzerland
Email: info@inklay.app
2. Data We Process
Website delivery and security
When you access the Website, our hosting provider may automatically process technical data needed to deliver and protect it. This may include your IP address, the requested page or file, date and time of the request, referrer information, browser and operating-system information, response status, and similar request or security data.
Google Analytics
If you select “Accept” in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the
Website. Analytics may process page views, approximate location derived from technical data, browser and
device information, referral source, session information, and interactions such as clicks on Inklay product
buttons. Google Analytics uses first-party identifiers, including the _ga and
_ga_<container-id> cookies, to distinguish browsers and sessions.
Analytics does not load if you decline. We do not use Google Analytics on this Website for advertising, remarketing, audience targeting, or the sale of personal data. Google signals and user-provided data collection are disabled, and we do not send account identifiers or email addresses to Analytics.
Your cookie choice
We store your Analytics choice in your browser's local storage under consentMode. This is needed
to remember whether you accepted or declined Analytics. The choice remains on your device until you clear the
Website's local storage or browser data.
Email and support correspondence
If you contact us at an email address shown on the Website, we process your email address, message, and any information you choose to include so that we can respond and provide support.
One-time availability notification
The “Available soon! Notify me!” link opens a prepared message in your own email application. If you send that message, we use your email address only to send one notification when Inklay becomes available. We do not add you to an ongoing newsletter or marketing list on that basis.
3. Why We Process Personal Data
Depending on the context and applicable law, we rely on the following grounds:
- Legitimate interests: to deliver and secure the Website, prevent misuse, diagnose technical problems, and respond to ordinary correspondence;
- Consent: to use Google Analytics and to send the one-time availability notification you request;
- Contract or steps at your request: when your message concerns a possible purchase, an existing purchase, or support for an Inklay product; and
- Legal obligations: where we must retain or disclose information under applicable law.
4. Service Providers and Disclosures
We use the following providers for the Website:
- Google Firebase Hosting to host, deliver, and protect the Website;
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for consent-based website measurement; and
- Google Workspace/Gmail to receive and manage email correspondence.
These providers process data on our behalf or, for certain processing, under their own legal responsibilities. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or security, or in connection with a corporate reorganisation or transfer, subject to applicable safeguards. We do not sell personal data.
5. International Data Transfers
Inklay GmbH is established in Switzerland. Google and its service providers may process personal data in Switzerland, the EU/EEA, the United States, or other countries in which they operate. Where required, such transfers are protected through recognised adequacy decisions, approved contractual safeguards, or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.
6. Retention
- Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is configured for a retention period of two months. Analytics cookies are configured to expire two months after the first visit. Standard aggregated Analytics reports may remain available for longer because they are not governed by the user and event retention setting.
- Your locally stored Analytics choice remains on your device until you clear the Website's local storage or browser data.
- We retain ordinary email correspondence only for as long as needed for the relevant communication or support matter. We may retain it longer where required for contracts, warranties, accounting, legal claims, or other legal obligations.
- We keep an availability request until we send the one-time notification, you withdraw your request, or the purpose no longer applies.
- Technical hosting and security data is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for delivery, security, troubleshooting, and applicable legal obligations, subject to our provider's operational settings.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You may decline Analytics when the cookie banner is shown. You can later remove the stored choice and any Analytics cookies through your browser's site-data or privacy settings. Analytics will remain disabled unless you accept it when the banner is shown again. You may withdraw an availability request at any time by emailing us.
Subject to applicable Swiss and EU/EEA data-protection law, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, receive a copy, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, and receive certain data in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
To exercise a privacy right, contact info@inklay.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, where the EU/EEA GDPR applies, with the competent data-protection authority in the country where you live or work or where you believe an infringement occurred.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data. However, no website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. External Websites
The Website contains links to external services, including our Shopify-powered store and online documentation. When you follow an external link, that service processes data under the privacy information presented on its own website. This Website policy does not govern those external services.
10. No Automated Decisions
We do not use personal data collected through the Website to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the Website, our providers, or applicable requirements change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Where appropriate, we will provide a more prominent notice of material changes.
12. Contact Us
